Policing and Public Safety
Because safe streets start with strong community, I plan to collaborate with ALL stakeholders to implement a comprehensive strategy aimed at:
- Addressing the root causes at the state level: poverty, lack of opportunity, marginalization and isolation
- Community-based policing and increased transparency requirements
- Investment in youth programs and early intervention
- Responsible gun violence prevention strategies
Healthcare
Every resident of District 26, deserves equitable access to safe, affordable, and effective healthcare. I plan to eliminate the healthcare disparities that plague our community with:
- Fully-funded home care and personal assistance services for qualifying individuals
- More accessible transportation for medical visits
- Funding more accessible community health centers
- Addressing critical staffing shortages in Maryland hospitals through strategic state-level support
- Implementing streamlined access to Medicare and Medicaid resources
Mental Health
Mental health can no longer be a stigma in our communities. I plan to support individuals and families suffering with mental health issues and crises through:
- More school-based mental health counselors for our youth
- State funded walk-in crisis clinics in every county
- State funding for community-led healing initiatives
- Trauma-informed training for first responders, law enforcement and educators
Veterans Advocacy
Those who have served our country deserve a country that serves them back. I will ensure this through:
- State funded, stable housing and emergency support services
- Easier access to VA and mental health care with state advocate network
- Job training and fair-wage employment programs
Programs and funding for veteran-owned businesses and entrepreneurs
Education
Every child in District 26 deserves a world-class education in a safe, supportive environment. Maryland has some of the strongest schools in the nation, but we are not without challenges. I plan to support our children and educators with:
- Funding to modernize and expand schools in District 26, reducing class sizes and giving students more personalized attention.
- Pay raises, better benefits, and stronger professional development programs to recruity and retain talented educators in Maryland schools.
- State investment in repairing outdated buildings, improving ventilation systems, and upgrading technology to create safe, 21st-century learning environments.
- More school-based counselors, social workers, and special education resources to address mental health and unique learning needs.
